Non-sporting events in Buenos Aires cause chaos and commercial harm

Buenos Aires, December 18 (NA) – The Federation of Commerce and Industry of the City (FECOBA) warned today that the recurring non-sporting entertainment activities at the River Plate stadium are causing "urban chaos and serious commercial harm" at the end of the year.

The permanent disruption of the neighborhood's dynamics by non-sporting events "is causing a serious impact on commerce, graduation ceremonies at universities, the inability of members to access the facilities of the CUBA, Liceo Naval, and Círculo Naval clubs, located by the La Plata River, restaurants in the Costanera area, and vehicular traffic for passengers heading to Jorge Newbery airport," the entity detailed in a statement sent to the Argentine News Agency (NA).

"We are receiving numerous complaints about the lack of planning in a crucial area of the City and the negative impact on local commerce during the holiday season, traditionally a period of high consumption," pointed out FECOBA president, Fabián Castillo.

In this regard, the business leader expressed the need to "urgently organize the area, allowing the opening of businesses located on Figueroa Alcorta Avenue and adjoining streets."

He also requested the City Government "to take the necessary measures to guarantee the normal flow of traffic in the Costanera, airport, and nearby clubs, which are seeing their members' access and passenger mobility blocked."
